TPMS Relearn

Procedure to relearn TPMS sensor IDs on a 2005 Dodge Viper after tire rotation, sensor replacement, or loss of sensor communication.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level ground and set parking brake
2. Turn ignition to OFF position
3. Verify all four tires are inflated to the correct pressure: 29 PSI front, 29 PSI rear (cold pressure)
4. Ensure TPMS sensors are installed and functioning in all four wheels
5. Have vehicle identification number (VIN) available if using dealership-level scan tool

Procedure

1. 1

   Access TPMS relearn mode
   Turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine off). Do not start the engine. Enter TPMS relearn mode using the appropriate Chrysler scan tool (DRB III / StarSCAN) or a compatible TPMS relearn tool per the manufacturer-documented procedure. Confirm the system indicates it is ready to receive sensor IDs before proceeding. Note: Verify whether this 2005 Viper is equipped with factory TPMS and confirm the correct relearn method and any required sensor activation sequence against Chrysler service documentation before proceeding.

   Activate left front sensor
   Using the TPMS relearn tool, activate the left front tire sensor by placing the tool against the tire sidewall near the valve stem. Hold the tool in position and activate it according to the tool's instructions (typically a button press). Confirm on the relearn/scan tool that the sensor ID has been successfully received by the vehicle before proceeding.eding.

   Activate right front sensor
   Move to the right front tire and repeat the activation process with the TPMS relearn tool against the tire sidewall near the valve stem. Wait for the horn chirp or tool confirmation indicating successful sensor ID reception.

   Activate right rear sensor
   Move to the right rear tire and activate the sensor using the same method. Position the relearn tool against the sidewall near the valve stem, activate, and wait for confirmation.

   Activate left rear sensor
   Move to the left rear tire and complete the relearn sequence by activating the final sensor. Position the tool near the valve stem, activate, and wait for the horn chirp or tool confirmation.

   Exit relearn mode
   After the fourth sensor has been successfully learned, turn the ignition to the OFF position. Wait 5 seconds, then turn the ignition back to ON (engine off). The TPMS warning light should illuminate for approximately 2 seconds and then turn off, indicating successful completion of the relearn procedure.

   Verify system operation
   Start the engine and allow it to run for at least 30 seconds. Observe the instrument cluster to confirm the TPMS warning light remains off. Drive the vehicle at speeds above 15 mph for at least 2 minutes to allow the system to fully initialize and begin monitoring tire pressures.

Verification

• TPMS warning light should be off with ignition on and engine running
• Use a scan tool to verify all four sensor IDs are registered in the vehicle's TPMS module if available
• Verify tire pressure readings are displayed correctly if vehicle is equipped with individual tire pressure display
• Intentionally deflate one tire by 5-7 PSI to confirm the system detects low pressure and illuminates the warning light, then reinflate to proper pressure
