Window Motor and Regulator - Front

Remove and replace the front window motor and regulator assembly on a 2005 Dodge Viper, including door panel removal and electrical disconnection.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off ignition.

Procedure

   Disconnect Window Motor Electrical
   Locate the window motor electrical connector inside the door. Press the locking tab and disconnect the connector from the motor. Note the routing of the wire harness for reinstallation.

   Disconnect Glass from Regulator
   Through the access holes in the door inner structure, locate the 2 bolts securing the window glass channel to the regulator lift mechanism. Remove these bolts (verify size against the 2005 Viper factory service manual) and carefully separate the glass from the regulator arms. Ensure the tape is securely holding the glass.

   Remove Regulator Mounting Bolts
   Locate the mounting bolts securing the window regulator assembly to the door inner panel (verify exact count and size against the 2005 Viper factory service manual). These are accessible through the access holes. Remove all mounting bolts while supporting the regulator assembly.

   Remove Regulator Assembly
   Carefully maneuver the window regulator and motor assembly out through the large access opening in the door inner panel. The assembly may need to be tilted and rotated to clear the door structure. Work slowly to avoid damaging the door or snagging the motor wiring.

    Install New Regulator Assembly
    Position the new window regulator and motor assembly inside the door, maneuvering it through the access opening. Align the regulator mounting holes with the door panel threaded inserts.     Connect Motor Electrical and Test

Disconnect battery again before proceeding.

    Reinstall Vapor Barrier
    Reposition the vapor barrier over the door inner panel, pressing firmly to reseal the adhesive. Ensure complete coverage to prevent moisture intrusion and wind noise. If the original adhesive is insufficient, use new vapor barrier tape to secure.

    Reinstall Door Panel
    Position the door panel at the window sill and engage the top edge into the sill channel. Press the panel firmly against the door to engage all retaining clips around the perimeter. Reconnect all electrical connectors for switches. Install all Torx fasteners and torque per specification.

Reassembly

1. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and torque to specification.
2. Test window operation multiple times through full travel to verify proper installation.

Verification
