Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacement of front windshield wiper blade assemblies on a 2005 Dodge Viper, removing the old blades from the wiper arms and installing new ones.

• Driver side wiper blade assembly × 1 — 22" blade, use OEM specification or aftermarket equivalent
• Passenger side wiper blade assembly × 1 — 22" blade, use OEM specification or aftermarket equivalent

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn ignition off
2. Ensure wiper arms are in the parked position at the base of the windshield
3. Clean windshield area around wiper blades to inspect for any damage to arms or pivot points

Procedure

1. 1

   Lift driver side wiper arm
   Grasp the driver side wiper arm near the base and pull it away from the windshield until it locks in the raised service position. The spring tension will hold the arm away from the glass.

   Remove driver side wiper blade
   Locate the connection point where the wiper blade assembly attaches to the wiper arm hook. Rotate the blade assembly to align the release tab perpendicular to the arm. Press or pull the release tab (typically a small button or lever on the blade connector) while sliding the blade assembly down and off the J-hook end of the wiper arm. The blade should separate from the arm completely.

   Install new driver side wiper blade
   Align the new wiper blade connector with the J-hook on the wiper arm. Slide the blade assembly onto the hook until you hear or feel a positive click indicating the locking mechanism has engaged. Gently tug the blade to confirm it is securely attached and will not separate from the arm.

   Lower driver side wiper arm
   Carefully guide the driver side wiper arm back down to the windshield, controlling its descent to prevent the spring tension from causing it to snap down. Ensure the new blade contacts the glass properly along its full length.

   Lift passenger side wiper arm
   Grasp the passenger side wiper arm near the base and pull it away from the windshield until it locks in the raised service position. The spring tension will hold the arm away from the glass.

   Remove passenger side wiper blade
   Locate the connection point where the wiper blade assembly attaches to the wiper arm hook. Rotate the blade assembly to align the release tab perpendicular to the arm. • Spray washer fluid and run wipers to confirm proper contact and cleaning performance across the full sweep area
• Inspect both blades visually to ensure they are seated correctly on the arms and the rubber elements contact the glass uniformly
