Parts
- Climate control module assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
- Trim panel retaining clips (if damaged) × 1 — Use OEM specification
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and set parking brake
- Turn ignition off and remove key
- Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait minimum 2 minutes
- Ensure transmission is in Park position
- Set steering wheel to straight-ahead position for access
Procedure
- 1Remove center console trim bezelUsing panel removal tools, carefully pry the center stack trim bezel starting from the bottom edges. Work your way around the perimeter to release all retaining clips. Pull the bezel forward gently to access electrical connectors on the rear side.
- 2Disconnect hazard switch and power outlet connectorsPress the locking tabs on the hazard switch electrical connector and power outlet connector (if equipped) and disconnect them from the trim bezel. Set the bezel aside in a safe location to avoid scratching.
- 3Remove climate control mounting screwsLocate the four T20 Torx screws securing the climate control module to the dashboard bracket. Remove all four screws and retain them for reinstallation. The module will now be loose but still connected.Torque specCover Screws12 Nm (9 lb-ft)
- 4Pull climate control module forwardCarefully pull the climate control module straight forward out of the dashboard opening approximately 4-6 inches to access the rear electrical connectors. Support the module to prevent stress on the wiring harness.
- 5Disconnect electrical connectorsLocate the main wiring harness connector on the rear of the climate control module. Press the locking tab and pull the connector straight back to disconnect. If equipped with dual-zone climate control, there will be a second connector to disconnect using the same method.
- 6Disconnect temperature blend door cablesLocate the temperature blend door cable(s) attached to the side of the climate control module. Press the cable retaining clips and slide the cables off their attachment points. Note the routing and position for reassembly. The module is now free to remove.
- 7Install new climate control modulePosition the new climate control module near the dashboard opening. Reconnect the temperature blend door cables by sliding them onto their attachment points until the retaining clips engage with an audible click. Verify cables move freely without binding.
- 8Connect electrical harnessConnect the main wiring harness connector to the rear of the new climate control module, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Connect the secondary connector if equipped with dual-zone. Verify all connectors are fully seated.
- 9Install module into dashboardCarefully guide the climate control module into the dashboard opening, ensuring wiring harness and cables are not pinched or kinked. Push the module flush with the surrounding dashboard surface and align the mounting screw holes.Torque specCover Screws12 Nm (9 lb-ft)
- 10Reinstall center trim bezelReconnect the hazard switch and power outlet electrical connectors to the trim bezel. Align the bezel with the dashboard and press firmly around the perimeter until all retaining clips snap into place. Ensure even gaps around the bezel.
Reassembly
- Reconnect battery negative terminal and tighten securely
- Verify all trim panels are properly seated with even gaps
- Check that no tools or parts were left in the dashboard area
Verification
- Turn ignition to ON position and verify climate control module powers up and display illuminates
- Test all climate control functions: fan speed, temperature adjustment, mode selection, and defrost
- Verify air flows from all vents when mode is changed
- Test recirculation button and AC button for proper operation
- Check that temperature blend door cables move smoothly through full range without binding
- Verify no unusual noises from behind dashboard when operating climate controls
- Confirm all trim panels are secure with no rattles
