- H10 fog light bulb (if replacing bulb only) × 1 — H10 42W halogen bulb
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Turn off ignition and all lights
- Allow fog lights to cool completely if recently used
- Turn steering wheel to opposite side of fog light being serviced for better access
Procedure
- 1Access wheel well linerLocate the front wheel well liner on the side where the fog light is being replaced. You will access the fog light assembly from behind through the wheel well opening. No wheel removal is necessary for this job.
- 2Remove wheel well liner fastenersRemove the plastic push-pin fasteners securing the forward section of the wheel well liner. You only need to release the front portion of the liner to access the fog light assembly. Typically 3-4 fasteners need removal. Use a flathead screwdriver or trim tool to carefully pry the center pin up, then remove the entire fastener.
- 3Fold back wheel well linerGently pull the front section of the wheel well liner back to expose the rear of the fog light assembly. You should now see the fog light housing and electrical connector from behind. Be careful not to tear the liner material.
- 4Disconnect fog light electrical connectorLocate the electrical connector at the back of the fog light assembly. Press the release tab on the connector and pull straight back to disconnect it from the fog light. Set the connector aside where it won't get dirty or damaged.
- 5Remove fog light mounting fastenersLocate the two mounting screws or bolts securing the fog light assembly to the bumper cover. These are typically 7mm bolts or Phillips screws accessible from behind. Remove both fasteners completely using the appropriate tool. Support the fog light housing with your other hand to prevent it from falling.Torque specCover Screws12 Nm (9 lb-ft)
- 6Remove fog light assemblyOnce both mounting fasteners are removed, carefully pull the fog light assembly rearward through the bumper opening. It may require slight rotation or angling to clear the bumper tabs. Remove the assembly completely from the vehicle.
- 7Install new fog light assemblyPosition the new fog light assembly into the bumper opening from behind. Align the mounting holes with the bumper cover mounting points. You may need to angle or rotate slightly to engage the assembly properly. Ensure the fog light lens is flush with the bumper cover exterior.
- 8Secure fog light mounting fastenersInstall both mounting screws or bolts through the fog light assembly into the bumper cover. Hand-tighten first to ensure proper alignment, then torque to specification using a torque wrench. Verify the fog light is seated flush and secure in the bumper.Torque specCover Screws12 Nm (9 lb-ft)
- 9Reconnect electrical connectorConnect the electrical connector to the back of the new fog light assembly. Push firmly until you hear and feel a positive click, indicating the connector is fully seated and locked. Gently tug to verify secure connection.
- 10Reinstall wheel well linerReposition the wheel well liner to its original location. Reinstall all push-pin fasteners that were removed. Press each fastener into its hole, then push the center pin down until flush to lock the fastener in place. Ensure the liner is properly secured and positioned.
Reassembly
- Ensure all wheel well liner fasteners are properly seated and locked
- Verify fog light assembly is flush with bumper cover with no gaps
- Check that electrical connector is fully seated with locking tab engaged
Verification
- Turn ignition to ON position and activate fog lights using the switch
- Verify fog light illuminates properly with correct beam pattern
- Walk around vehicle to confirm fog light is aligned properly and secure in bumper
- Check for any warning lights on instrument cluster related to exterior lighting
- Verify wheel well liner is secure with no loose fasteners or rattles
