Parts
- Fog light bulb H10 or 9145 × 1 — H10 or 9145 halogen bulb
Preparation
- Turn off the vehicle and remove the key from the ignition
- Turn the fog light switch to the OFF position
- Allow fog lights to cool completely if recently used
- Turn the steering wheel fully to the side opposite the fog light being replaced for better access
Procedure
- 1Access fog light assemblyFrom underneath the front of the vehicle, locate the fog light housing behind the front bumper. The fog light is positioned in the lower fascia and can be accessed from the wheel well area or directly from underneath.
- 2Locate bulb socketIdentify the electrical connector and bulb socket at the rear of the fog light housing. The socket is a twist-lock design that protrudes from the back of the housing assembly.
- 3Disconnect electrical connectorPress the release tab on the electrical connector and pull it straight away from the bulb socket to disconnect. Set the connector aside in a clean area where it won't get contaminated with dirt.
- 4Remove bulb socketRotate the bulb socket counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it releases from the fog light housing. Pull the socket and bulb assembly straight out of the housing.
- 5Remove old bulbPull the old H10/9145 bulb straight out of the socket. The bulb uses a wedge-style base and should pull free without rotation. Inspect the socket for any corrosion or damage.
- 6Install new bulbUsing a clean cloth or gloves to avoid touching the glass, insert the new H10/9145 bulb into the socket by aligning the base tabs and pushing firmly until it seats completely. Ensure the bulb is fully seated in the socket.
- 7Reinstall bulb socketInsert the bulb socket assembly back into the fog light housing and rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into place. Verify the socket is secure by gently pulling on it.
- 8Reconnect electrical connectorPush the electrical connector onto the bulb socket until you hear or feel a positive click, confirming the connector is fully seated and locked.
Reassembly
- Return the steering wheel to the centered position
- Ensure no tools or materials are left in the wheel well or under the vehicle
Verification
- Start the vehicle and turn on the fog lights to verify the new bulb illuminates properly
- Check that the fog light beam pattern is correct and both fog lights match in brightness if only one was replaced
- Visually inspect from outside the vehicle to confirm proper operation
