Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and turn off ignition
- Allow headlight assembly to cool if vehicle was recently operated
- Open hood and secure with prop rod
Procedure
- 1Locate turn signal bulb socketFrom inside the engine compartment, locate the turn signal bulb socket on the backside of the headlight assembly. The turn signal socket is typically positioned on the outboard side of the headlight housing, separate from the headlight bulb socket.
- 2Remove bulb socketGrasp the bulb socket firmly and rotate counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn (45-90 degrees) until it releases from the headlight housing. Pull the socket straight out from the housing with the bulb still installed.
- 3Remove failed bulbPress the bulb straight into the socket while rotating counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn until the locking tabs disengage. Pull the bulb straight out of the socket. Inspect the socket for corrosion or damage; clean contacts with electrical contact cleaner if necessary.
- 4Install new bulbWearing clean gloves or using a clean cloth, align the new 3157A amber turn signal bulb pins with the socket slots. Press the bulb straight into the socket while rotating clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into place. Gently tug on the bulb to verify it is securely seated.
- 5Reinstall bulb socketAlign the socket tabs with the slots in the headlight housing. Insert the socket straight into the housing and rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into position. Ensure the socket is fully seated and secure.
Reassembly

- Activate turn signal in the direction of the replaced bulb and verify proper amber flashing operation
