This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the windshield washer pump on a 2015-2020 Ford F-150 with 3.5L EcoBoost engine.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Allow engine to cool if recently driven
3. Gather all tools and replacement parts
4. Have shop towels or drip pan positioned to catch spilled washer fluid

Procedure

1. 1

   Access the washer fluid reservoir
   Open the hood and locate the washer fluid reservoir on the driver side of the engine bay near the fender. The reservoir is a translucent white or blue container with a blue fill cap.

   Remove reservoir fill cap
   Remove the washer fluid reservoir cap to allow air into the system, which will help with draining and prevent vacuum formation when removing the pump.

   Disconnect washer hoses
   Locate the washer hoses connected to the pump at the bottom of the reservoir. Squeeze the hose clamps and slide them back, then carefully pull the hoses off the pump nipples. Allow any fluid to drain into your drip pan.

   Disconnect electrical connector
   Locate the electrical connector on the washer pump. Press the tab on the connector and pull it straight off the pump. Ensure you support the pump while disconnecting to prevent breaking the mounting tabs.

   Remove washer pump from reservoir
   The pump is held in place by a rubber grommet and twist-lock or push-fit design. Rotate the pump counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn (if twist-lock style) or firmly pull straight down (if push-fit style) to release it from the reservoir. Some fluid will drain out as the pump is removed.

   Inspect and clean mounting area
   Inspect the rubber grommet in the reservoir for cracks, deterioration, or damage. Clean the mounting area of any debris or sediment. Replace the grommet if it shows signs of wear or if it doesn't seal properly.

   Install new washer pump
   Install the new pump into the reservoir grommet. Ensure the pump is oriented correctly with the outlet nipples pointing in the proper direction. Push the pump firmly into the grommet and rotate clockwise 1/4 turn (if twist-lock) until it clicks or locks into place. Verify the pump is seated securely.

   Reconnect electrical connector
   Push the electrical connector onto the new pump until it clicks into place. Tug gently to confirm it is fully seated and locked.

   Reconnect washer hoses
   Push the washer hoses firmly onto the pump outlet nipples until they are fully seated. Slide the hose clamps back into position over the connection points to secure them.

    Refill washer fluid reservoir
    Fill the reservoir with windshield washer fluid to the full line. The reservoir capacity is 3.5 quarts. Use a quality washer fluid appropriate for your climate conditions.

Reassembly

1. Reinstall the reservoir cap securely
2. Wipe up any spilled washer fluid from the engine bay
3. Close the hood

Verification

• Turn the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine
• Activate the windshield washer system and verify fluid sprays from both front nozzles with good pressure and pattern
• Listen for smooth, quiet pump operation without grinding or abnormal noise
• Check for leaks at the hose connections and pump grommet seal
• Verify the washer fluid level does not drop unexpectedly, indicating no leaks
• Test the rear washer system if equipped to ensure proper operation
