Complete 30,000 mile scheduled maintenance service including oil change, filter replacements, fluid inspections, and multi-point inspection for the 2015-2020 Ford F-150 with 3.5L EcoBoost engine.
Warnings
⚠️Engine oil and components can be extremely hot. Allow engine to cool for at least 30 minutes before starting work.
⚠The 3.5L EcoBoost engine has dual turbos. Ensure engine has cooled adequately before working near exhaust components.
⚠Always use jack stands when working under the vehicle. Never rely on a floor jack alone.
ℹ️The oil drain plug uses a crush washer that must be replaced at every oil change to prevent leaks.

Parts
- Engine oil filter × 1 — Motorcraft FL-910-S or equivalent
- Engine air filter × 1 — Motorcraft FA-1927 or equivalent
- Cabin air filter × 1 — Motorcraft FP-67 or equivalent
- Oil drain plug crush washer × 1 — Use OEM specification
Fluids
- Motorcraft 0W-20 Full Synthetic Engine Oil — 6 qt
- Windshield Washer Fluid — 3.5 qt
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Allow engine to cool for at least 30 minutes if recently driven
- Gather all tools, parts, and fluids before beginning
- Verify you have the correct oil filter and air filters for this specific model year
- Open hood and locate engine oil filler cap to verify 0W-20 specification on cap
Procedure
- 1Lift and secure vehicleRaise the front of the vehicle using a floor jack at the designated front jacking point. Secure with jack stands placed at the factory jack points on the frame rails. Raise rear if additional access is needed for inspection. Ensure vehicle is stable before working underneath.
- 2Drain engine oilLocate the oil drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan. Position drain pan underneath. Remove drain plug using appropriate socket and allow oil to drain completely (approximately 5-10 minutes). Inspect drain plug threads and sealing surface for damage. Discard old crush washer.⚠Hot oil can cause severe burns. Ensure engine is cool and be prepared for oil flow when loosening drain plug.
- 3Remove oil filterLocate the oil filter on the driver's side of the engine block, near the front. Position drain pan to catch residual oil. Use oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter by turning counterclockwise. Allow oil to drain from filter housing. Clean the filter mounting surface on the engine block with a clean shop towel.
- 4Install new oil filter and drain plugApply a thin film of clean engine oil to the rubber gasket on the new oil filter. Thread the new filter onto the mounting boss by hand until the gasket contacts the engine block, then tighten an additional 3/4 turn by hand only. Install new crush washer on drain plug. Thread drain plug into oil pan by hand, then torque to specification.
- 5Fill engine with new oilLower vehicle to the ground. Locate engine oil filler cap on top of driver's side valve cover. Remove cap and insert funnel. Add 5.5 quarts of Motorcraft 0W-20 synthetic oil initially. Wait 2 minutes for oil to settle, then check dipstick. Add remaining oil in small increments until level reaches the MAX mark. Do not overfill.
- 6Replace engine air filterLocate air filter housing on passenger side of engine bay. Release the air box clips securing the cover. Remove cover and extract old air filter. Inspect housing for debris and clean if necessary. Install new air filter ensuring proper orientation with arrow pointing toward engine. Replace cover and secure clips.
- 7Replace cabin air filterOpen passenger door and locate cabin air filter access panel behind the glove box or under the dash (location varies by model year). Remove cover screws and access panel. Slide out old cabin air filter noting orientation arrow. Install new filter with arrow pointing in same direction (toward airflow). Reinstall access panel and secure with screws.
- 8Rotate and inspect tiresRemove all four wheels. Inspect tires for uneven wear, damage, or embedded objects. Check brake pad thickness through wheel openings (minimum 3mm). Rotate tires according to RWD pattern: front to rear same side, rear to front opposite side. Reinstall wheels and torque lug nuts in star pattern.ℹ️If tires show uneven wear patterns, alignment should be checked separately.
- 9Inspect fluids and top offCheck coolant level in overflow reservoir (should be between MIN and MAX marks when cold). Check brake fluid level in master cylinder reservoir (should be at MAX). Inspect transmission fluid via dipstick if accessible on your model year (check owner's manual - some years require dealer scan tool). Fill windshield washer reservoir to full. Check rear differential for leaks at cover and pinion seal.
- 10Perform multi-point inspectionInspect serpentine belt for cracks, fraying, or glazing. Check all hoses for cracks or deterioration. Inspect battery terminals for corrosion and ensure tight connections. Check wiper blades for wear. Inspect undercarriage for leaks, loose components, or damage. Look for any fluid stains on driveway where vehicle was parked. Document any issues requiring future attention.
- 11Start engine and check for leaksStart the engine and allow it to idle for 3-5 minutes. Monitor oil pressure gauge to confirm it rises to normal range. Watch for any warning lights on instrument cluster. While engine is running, inspect underneath vehicle for oil leaks at drain plug and filter. Turn off engine and wait 5 minutes, then recheck oil level on dipstick and top off if needed.
- 12Reset oil life monitorTurn ignition to ON position without starting engine. Using steering wheel controls, navigate to Settings > Vehicle > Oil Life Reset on the instrument cluster display. Follow prompts to reset oil life to 100%. Alternatively, consult owner's manual for specific reset procedure for your model year.
Reassembly
- Ensure all filler caps are properly secured (oil, coolant, washer fluid, brake fluid)
- Verify air filter housing cover is properly seated and all clips are engaged
- Double-check that all wheels are torqued to specification in star pattern
- Confirm no tools or parts are left in engine bay or under vehicle
- Remove jack stands and lower vehicle completely to ground
Verification
- Check engine oil level on dipstick - should be at MAX mark when on level ground
- Inspect ground under vehicle after running engine - no oil drips should be present
- Verify oil life monitor has been reset to 100%
- Confirm all warning lights are off after starting engine
- Check tire pressures with gauge and adjust to specification on door jamb sticker (typically 35 PSI front and rear for F-150)
- Test drive vehicle briefly and listen for any unusual noises, then re-inspect for leaks
- Document service date and mileage for maintenance records
