Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and apply parking brake
- Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels
- Allow engine to cool completely if recently operated
- Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 3 minutes for airbag system to discharge
- Raise front of vehicle and support on jack stands
- Remove driver side front wheel for improved access

Procedure

- 7Install the snap ringUsing snap ring pliers, install the snap ring into the groove on the compressor nose. Ensure the snap ring is fully seated in the groove around its entire circumference. Verify the clutch coil cannot be pulled off with moderate hand force.
- 8Measure clutch air gapUsing a feeler gauge, measure the air gap between the clutch plate (on the pulley) and the face of the electromagnetic coil at three points around the circumference. The gap should be 0.014-0.026 inches (0.35-0.65mm). If out of specification, adjust using shims behind the coil.
