This procedure covers removal and replacement of the front fog light assembly on a 2018-2024 Honda Accord 1.5L Turbo, including bulb and housing replacement.

Warnings

Avoid touching the glass portion of halogen bulbs with bare hands. Oil from skin causes premature bulb failure.
ℹ️Allow fog lights to cool for at least 10 minutes if recently operated before beginning work.

Tools required

10mm socket and ratchetEssential
Flathead screwdriver or trim removal toolEssential
Phillips head screwdriver
Torque wrench
Flashlight or work light

Parts

  • Fog light assembly (left or right as needed) × 1 — Use OEM specification
  • Fog light bulb H11 55W (if not included with assembly) × 1 — H11 halogen bulb
  • Push pin retainers (if damaged) × 3 — 91503-SZ3-003

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Turn off ignition and fog lights
  3. Turn steering wheel fully to the opposite side of the fog light being replaced for better access (left for right fog, right for left fog)
  4. Allow fog light to cool if recently used

Procedure

  1. 1
    Access wheel well liner
Locate the plastic wheel well liner (fender liner) on the front corner corresponding to the fog light being replaced. The fog light is accessed from behind through the wheel well, not from the front bumper.
  2. 2
    Remove wheel well liner fasteners
Remove the 3-4 push pin retainers securing the front section of the wheel well liner. Use a flathead screwdriver or trim tool to pry up the center pin of each push retainer, then pull the entire retainer out. You only need to remove the fasteners along the front edge nearest the fog light area.
  3. 3
    Pull back wheel well liner
Carefully pull back the front portion of the wheel well liner to expose the rear of the fog light assembly. You should see the fog light housing and electrical connector. You do not need to completely remove the liner, just create enough clearance to access the fog light from behind.
  4. 4
    Disconnect fog light electrical connector
Locate the electrical connector on the back of the fog light assembly. Press the release tab on the connector while pulling it straight away from the fog light socket. If replacing only the bulb, you can disconnect the bulb socket instead of the main harness connector.
  5. 5
    Remove fog light mounting bolts
Using a 10mm socket, remove the two or three mounting bolts securing the fog light assembly to the bumper bracket. Support the fog light housing with your other hand as you remove the final bolt to prevent it from dropping.

  6. 6
    Remove fog light assembly
Carefully pull the fog light assembly rearward through the wheel well opening. You may need to angle or rotate the assembly slightly to clear the bumper mounting bracket. Inspect the mounting area for debris or damage.
  7. 7
    Install new fog light assembly
If replacing the entire assembly, transfer any necessary brackets or hardware from the old unit to the new one if not pre-installed. Position the new fog light assembly into the bumper opening from behind, aligning the mounting holes with the bracket. Thread in the mounting bolts by hand first to ensure proper alignment.
  8. 8
    Torque mounting bolts
Using a 10mm socket or torque wrench, tighten the fog light mounting bolts to 26.0 Nm (19 lb-ft). Tighten in a cross pattern if there are three mounting points. Ensure the fog light assembly is seated flush against the bumper and properly aligned.

  9. 9
    Connect electrical connector
Reconnect the electrical connector to the fog light assembly, pushing firmly until you hear or feel the locking tab click into place. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is fully seated and locked.
  10. 10
    Reinstall wheel well liner
Position the wheel well liner back into its original location. Reinstall all push pin retainers by inserting the outer portion of the retainer first, then pressing the center pin down until it is flush with the retainer body. Replace any damaged retainers with new ones.

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all wheel well liner fasteners are properly seated and secure
  2. Verify fog light lens is clean and properly seated in bumper opening
  3. Check that no tools or parts were left in wheel well area

Verification

  • Turn ignition to ON position and activate fog lights using the control switch
  • Verify the replaced fog light illuminates properly and is the same brightness as the opposite side
  • Walk around vehicle to confirm fog light is properly aligned and sits flush with bumper
  • Check for any warning lights on the instrument cluster indicating electrical issues
  • Turn steering wheel back to center position and verify wheel well liner is not interfering with tire movement
