This procedure covers removal and installation of the HVAC control panel/climate control unit in the center console of a 2018-2024 Honda Accord with 1.5L turbo engine.

• HVAC control panel assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
• Trim panel clips (if broken) × 5 — Honda 91512-SZ3-003 or equivalent

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Turn ignition off and remove key/fob from vehicle
3. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait minimum 3 minutes
4. Set front seats to full rearward position for working room
5. Prepare a clean workspace or container for screws and small parts

Procedure

1. 1

   Remove lower center console trim panel
   Use trim removal tools to carefully pry out the lower center console trim panel starting from the bottom edges. Pull the panel toward the rear of the vehicle to release the upper clips. Disconnect any electrical connectors for USB ports or power outlets if equipped.

   Remove center console side panels
   Remove the trim panels on both left and right sides of the center console. Use trim tools to release the clips. These panels provide access to the console mounting bolts.

   Remove radio/infotainment trim bezel
   Starting at the bottom corners, carefully pry the trim bezel surrounding the radio and HVAC controls using trim removal tools. Work your way around the perimeter, releasing all clips. Gently pull the bezel forward approximately 2 inches but do not fully remove yet.

   Access HVAC control panel mounting screws
   With the trim bezel pulled forward, locate the Phillips head screws securing the HVAC control panel. There are typically 4 screws: two on top and two on bottom of the control panel frame. Remove all mounting screws and set aside.

   Remove HVAC control panel
   Carefully pull the HVAC control panel straight out from the dashboard approximately 4-6 inches. Do not force it. You may need to angle it slightly to clear the surrounding trim.

   Disconnect electrical connectors
   Locate the main wiring harness connector on the back of the HVAC control panel. Press the locking tab and pull the connector straight out. If equipped with heated seat controls integrated into the panel, disconnect that connector as well. The connectors have unique shapes and cannot be reversed.

   Remove old HVAC control panel
   With all connectors disconnected, fully remove the HVAC control panel from the vehicle. Inspect the mounting area for any debris or damage.

   Install new HVAC control panel
   Connect the main electrical harness to the back of the new HVAC control panel. Ensure the locking tab clicks into place. Connect any additional connectors such as heated seat controls. Verify all connections are secure.

   Position and secure control panel
   Guide the HVAC control panel into the dashboard opening, ensuring no wires are pinched. Align the screw holes and install the 4 mounting screws. Tighten screws in a cross pattern to ensure even seating of the panel.

    Reinstall trim bezel
    Align the radio/infotainment trim bezel with the dashboard opening. Press firmly around all edges to engage the retaining clips. Ensure the bezel is flush with the dashboard surface on all sides.

    Reinstall console trim panels
    Reinstall the center console side panels by aligning and pressing to engage clips. Reconnect any electrical connectors for the lower center panel (USB, power outlets), then align and press the lower trim panel into place until all clips engage.

Reassembly

1. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten securely
2. Verify all trim panels are flush and fully seated with no gaps
3. Ensure no rattles or loose panels by gently pressing on all reinstalled trim pieces

Verification

• Turn ignition to ON position and verify HVAC control panel illuminates
• Test all HVAC functions: fan speed, temperature adjustment, mode selection, and recirculation
• Test heated seat controls if equipped and integrated into the panel
• Verify AUTO climate control function operates correctly if equipped
• Check that rear defrost and A/C buttons illuminate and function properly
• Confirm all trim panels are secure with no rattles during test drive
