This procedure covers the removal and installation of the side mirror assembly on a 2018-2024 Honda Accord with 1.5L turbo engine, including electrical connector disconnection and mirror mounting.

Warnings

If the mirror has power folding or blind spot monitoring features, ensure the ignition is off and wait 3 minutes before disconnecting the electrical connector to allow capacitor discharge
ℹ️Work carefully around painted surfaces to avoid scratches. Consider applying masking tape to door panel edges near the mirror
ℹ️The mirror glass is fragile and can shatter if the assembly is dropped

Parts

  • Side mirror assembly (driver or passenger) × 1 — Use OEM specification for specific side
  • Door trim panel clips (if broken) — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the ignition
  2. If equipped with memory mirrors or power folding, ensure mirrors are in the normal (unfolded) position
  3. Roll down the window slightly to provide access if needed
  4. Prepare a clean work surface to place the removed mirror assembly

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove Door Panel Trim Cover
Open the door fully. Locate the triangular trim cover at the front upper corner of the door panel where the mirror mounts. Use a trim removal tool to carefully pry the trim cover away from the door panel, starting at the rear edge. Work around the perimeter to release all clips. Set the cover aside in a safe location.
  2. 2
    Disconnect Mirror Electrical Connector
Locate the electrical connector behind the trim cover. Press the locking tab on the connector and pull it straight out to disconnect. For models with multiple connectors (blind spot monitoring, turn signal, power fold), disconnect all connectors. Note the routing of the wiring harness for reinstallation.
Do not pull on the wires themselves; always grasp the connector body to avoid damaging the wiring
  3. 3
    Remove Mirror Mounting Bolts
Locate the three 10mm mounting bolts securing the mirror assembly to the door frame. These bolts are arranged in a triangular pattern. Using a 10mm socket and ratchet, remove all three mounting bolts completely. Support the mirror assembly from the outside of the door with your other hand to prevent it from falling.
Have a helper support the mirror from outside, or use masking tape to temporarily secure it while removing the final bolt
  4. 4
    Remove Mirror Assembly
While supporting the mirror from outside the door, carefully pull the mirror assembly away from the door. Guide the electrical connector and wiring harness through the opening in the door frame. Remove the mirror assembly completely and place it on a clean, padded surface. Inspect the mounting surface on the door for any damage or debris.
  5. 5
    Install New Mirror Assembly
Feed the electrical connector and wiring harness of the new mirror assembly through the opening in the door frame from the outside. Align the mirror base with the three mounting holes on the door frame. Ensure the gasket or seal (if equipped) is properly positioned. Hold the mirror in position while you proceed to the next step.
  6. 6
    Install Mirror Mounting Bolts
Insert all three 10mm mounting bolts through the mirror base and into the door frame. Start all bolts by hand to ensure proper thread engagement. Tighten the bolts in a star pattern (alternate between bolts) to ensure even seating. Use a torque wrench to tighten all three bolts to 26.0 Nm (19 lb-ft).
ℹ️Proper torque is critical to prevent mirror vibration and ensure secure mounting

  7. 7
    Reconnect Electrical Connector
Route the wiring harness in the same path as the original installation. Connect all electrical connectors, pressing firmly until you hear or feel a positive click indicating the locking tab has engaged. Gently tug on each connector to verify it is secure. Ensure no wires are pinched or kinked.
  8. 8
    Reinstall Door Panel Trim Cover
Position the triangular trim cover over the mirror mounting area. Align all mounting clips with their corresponding holes in the door panel. Press firmly around the perimeter of the cover until all clips are fully seated and the cover is flush with the door panel. Verify the cover is secure and does not rattle.

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all electrical connectors are fully seated and locked
  2. Verify the trim cover is properly clipped in place with no gaps
  3. Check that no tools or parts have been left inside the door panel area

Verification

  • Turn the ignition to ON position (engine off) and test all mirror functions: power adjustment in all directions (up, down, left, right)
  • If equipped, test power folding function by pressing the fold button
  • For heated mirrors, turn on rear defrost and verify the mirror heating element works (may take 2-3 minutes to feel warmth)
  • If equipped with blind spot monitoring, verify the indicator light in the mirror functions properly during a test drive
  • Visually inspect the mirror for proper alignment and ensure it does not vibrate excessively at highway speeds
  • Confirm the turn signal indicator (if equipped in mirror) functions when the turn signal is activated
