Tire Rotation

Rotate tires in the recommended pattern to ensure even tire wear and maximize tire life on the 2018-2024 Honda Accord 1.5L Turbo.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level, solid surface and engage parking brake
2. Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels if lifting front first, or front wheels if lifting rear first
3. Loosen all lug nuts 1/4 turn while wheels are still on the ground (do not remove)
4. Identify wheel type: alloy wheels require 130 Nm (96 lb-ft), steel wheels require 140 Nm (103 lb-ft)
5. Locate jack points: front jack point is behind front subframe center, rear jack points are on pinch weld seams

Procedure

   Lift and support the vehicle
   Using the hydraulic floor jack, lift the front of the vehicle at the designated front jack point until wheels are off the ground. Place jack stands under the front pinch weld jack points on both sides. Lower vehicle onto jack stands. Repeat process for rear of vehicle, using rear pinch weld jack points. Ensure all four wheels are off the ground and vehicle is stable on four jack stands.

   Remove all four wheels
   Remove the loosened lug nuts completely from all four wheels. Remove each wheel and place it on the ground in front of its current position to avoid confusion. Keep lug nuts organized by wheel position.

   Inspect tires and measure tread depth
   Inspect each tire for uneven wear, damage, cuts, or embedded objects. Measure tread depth at multiple points on each tire. Note any irregular wear patterns that may indicate alignment or suspension issues. Minimum legal tread depth is 2/32 inch.

   Rotate tires in recommended pattern
   For this FWD vehicle, use the forward cross pattern: move front left tire to rear left position, front right tire to rear right position, rear left tire to front right position, and rear right tire to front left position. This pattern ensures even wear distribution across all tires.

   Install wheels in new positions
   Mount each tire onto its new hub position. Hand-thread all lug nuts clockwise until snug to ensure proper seating. Do not fully tighten yet. Ensure the wheel is seated flush against the hub before proceeding.

   Lower vehicle to ground
   Raise vehicle slightly with floor jack to unload jack stands. Remove all four jack stands. Carefully lower vehicle completely to the ground. Vehicle weight should now rest on all four tires.

   Torque lug nuts to specification
   Using a torque wrench, tighten lug nuts in a star (criss-cross) pattern. For alloy wheels, torque to 130 Nm (96 lb-ft). For steel wheels, torque to 140 Nm (103 lb-ft). Make multiple passes in the star pattern, gradually increasing torque until final specification is reached. Repeat for all four wheels.

   Check and adjust tire pressures
   Check tire pressure on all four tires using tire pressure gauge. Refer to the driver's door jamb placard for correct pressure specifications (typically 32-35 PSI for this vehicle). Adjust pressures as needed. Tire pressures should be checked when tires are cold.
