ETS Throttle Motor Malfunction

What this code means

The PCM has detected a malfunction in the Electronic Throttle System throttle motor. The motor that physically moves the throttle plate is not responding correctly to PCM commands, which severely limits engine power.

Symptoms

• Check Engine Light
• Severe loss of power
• Engine limited to idle speed
• ETC warning light illuminated
• Throttle unresponsive to pedal input

Common causes

• Faulty throttle body motor
• Internal throttle body failure
• Wiring damage to throttle body motor
• Corroded throttle body connector
• PCM motor driver circuit failure

Diagnostic steps

1. Test throttle body motor resistance
2. Command throttle opening with scan tool and observe response
3. Inspect throttle body connector and wiring
4. Check for binding throttle plate
5. Verify PCM motor drive signals
