Replace the transmission mount on a 2016-2024 Hyundai Tucson 2.5L I4 AWD to eliminate excessive engine movement and vibration.
Warnings
⚠️Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always use jack stands rated for the vehicle weight.
⚠️Transmission mount supports significant weight. Ensure transmission is properly supported before removing mount bolts to prevent transmission from dropping.
⚠Allow engine and transmission to cool completely before beginning work to avoid burn injuries.
⚠Do not over-torque mounting bolts as this can damage the mount or transmission case threads.

Parts
- Transmission mount assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and apply parking brake
- Allow engine and transmission to cool completely
- Disconnect negative battery terminal
- Raise vehicle and support securely on jack stands at manufacturer-specified lift points
- Remove any belly pan or skid plate that obstructs access to transmission mount
Procedure
- 1Locate transmission mountFrom underneath the vehicle, locate the transmission mount on the passenger side of the transmission. The mount connects the transmission case to the subframe/crossmember. Inspect the current mount for signs of damage, cracking, or separation to confirm replacement is necessary.
- 2Position transmission supportPlace a transmission jack or floor jack with a wood block directly under the transmission oil pan. Raise the jack until it just contacts the pan with slight pressure, but do not lift the transmission yet. This will support the transmission weight when the mount is removed.
- 3Remove mount-to-transmission boltsLocate the upper mounting bolts that secure the transmission mount bracket to the transmission case. Remove these bolts completely and set aside. There are typically 2-3 bolts at this location. Support the mount by hand as you remove the final bolt.Torque specMounting Bolts27 Nm (20 lb-ft)
- 4Remove mount-to-subframe boltsLocate the lower mounting bolts that secure the transmission mount to the subframe or crossmember. These are typically larger bolts. Remove these bolts completely. You may need to slightly raise or lower the transmission jack to relieve tension and allow bolt removal.Torque specMounting Bolts27 Nm (20 lb-ft)
- 5Remove old transmission mountWith all mounting bolts removed, carefully lower the transmission jack slightly (approximately 1-2 inches) to create clearance. Remove the old transmission mount assembly from between the transmission and subframe. Note the orientation and positioning for installation of the new mount.
- 6Inspect mounting surfacesClean the mounting surfaces on both the transmission case and subframe using a wire brush. Inspect for any damage, cracks, or stripped threads. Verify that the new mount matches the old mount in configuration and bolt hole alignment.
- 7Position new transmission mountPosition the new transmission mount between the transmission and subframe in the same orientation as the old mount was removed. Use the transmission jack to raise the transmission slightly to align the mount with both the transmission case and subframe mounting points.
- 8Install mount-to-subframe boltsThread the lower mounting bolts through the subframe and into the transmission mount by hand. Do not fully tighten yet. Ensure all bolts start threading properly without cross-threading. Verify proper alignment before proceeding.Torque specMounting Bolts27 Nm (20 lb-ft)
- 9Install mount-to-transmission boltsThread the upper mounting bolts through the mount bracket into the transmission case by hand. Ensure the mount is properly seated and aligned before threading bolts. Start all bolts before tightening any to ensure even alignment.Torque specMounting Bolts27 Nm (20 lb-ft)
- 10Torque mounting bolts to specificationUsing a torque wrench, tighten the mount-to-transmission bolts first. Use 27.0 Nm (20 lb-ft) for smaller mounting bolts and 61.0 Nm (45 lb-ft) for larger mounting bolts depending on size and location. Then torque the mount-to-subframe bolts using the same specifications based on bolt size. Verify all bolts are properly torqued.Torque specMounting Bolts27 Nm (20 lb-ft)
- 11Remove transmission supportCarefully lower the transmission jack and remove it from under the vehicle. Verify that the transmission weight is fully supported by the new mount and that there is no unusual sagging or misalignment.
Reassembly
- Reinstall any belly pan or skid plate that was removed during preparation
- Lower vehicle from jack stands
- Reconnect negative battery terminal
- Start engine and allow to idle for verification
Verification
- Start engine and verify no excessive vibration at idle in Park and Drive with brake applied
- Visually inspect new mount for proper seating and no contact with surrounding components
- Test drive vehicle and verify smooth shifting with no unusual vibrations or noises
- Re-inspect all mounting bolts after 50-100 miles of driving to ensure they remain tight
