Fix: The internal ATF cooler in the radiator fails, allowing coolant and ATF to mix. Once contaminated, the transmission is often toast. Proactive fix is external cooler and radiator replacement before failure (3-4 hours). If transmission is damaged, expect rebuild or replacement (12-16 hours total labor).

Fix: The lower intake manifold gasket deteriorates, causing vacuum leaks and sometimes coolant seepage into cylinders. Requires upper and lower manifold removal, new gaskets, and timing to clean carbon while in there. 5-7 hours labor. Always replace upper plenum gaskets at same time.

Fix: The VG30E can wear rings prematurely if oil changes were neglected or engine overheated. Cylinders 1-3 see it first due to exhaust heat. Repair requires engine removal for bore inspection, hone, and re-ring at minimum (20+ hours), or short block if bores are out of spec (25-30 hours). Often not economical unless you're doing it yourself.

Fix: The distributor shaft O-ring hardens and leaks oil. Distributor must be removed, timing marked, O-ring replaced, and distributor reinstalled with timing set. 1.5-2.5 hours. Good time to replace cap, rotor, and plug wires.
