Fix: Early VQ35DE engines have known piston ring land failures and oil control ring issues. Owners burning more than 1 qt per 1,000 mi are on borrowed time. Catch it late and you're looking at engine rebuild (35-45 hours) or used JDM motor swap (20-25 hours). Prevention: synthetic oil every 3-4k miles and monitor consumption religiously.
