Warnings
⚠️This is an electric vehicle with high-voltage components. The 12V system powers the fog lights, but ensure the vehicle is powered down completely before beginning work.
⚠Fog light lenses and housings are fragile. Use proper trim tools to avoid cracking or breaking components during removal.
ℹ️The Rivian EDV 500 fog lights are integrated into the front bumper assembly and require partial bumper disassembly for access.

Parts
- Fog light assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
- Fog light mounting bracket (if damaged) × 1 — Use OEM specification
- Push-pin fasteners (assorted) × 5 — Rivian service fastener kit
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Power down the vehicle completely using the center screen and wait 2 minutes for all systems to sleep
- Open the front hood (frunk) and disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal to ensure all accessory circuits are de-energized
- Turn the front wheels fully to the side opposite the fog light being replaced for improved access to the wheel well liner
- Mark or photograph the fog light alignment position if the original assembly is still intact
Procedure
- 1Remove front wheel well liner clipsRemove the forward section of the front wheel well liner on the side being serviced. Remove approximately 5-7 push-pin fasteners securing the liner to the bumper and fender using the trim removal tool. Fold the liner back to expose the rear of the fog light housing area.
- 2Access front bumper lower access panelLocate the lower front bumper access panel directly behind the fog light location. This panel is held by 4 T25 Torx screws. Remove all screws and carefully pull the access panel away from the bumper assembly. Set the panel and fasteners aside in a clean area.
- 3Disconnect fog light electrical connectorReach behind the fog light assembly and locate the electrical connector. Press the locking tab on the connector while pulling it straight back to disconnect. Note the connector orientation and routing for reinstallation. If the connector is difficult to access, additional bumper fasteners may need to be loosened for improved reach.
- 4Remove fog light mounting fastenersLocate the three 10mm mounting bolts securing the fog light assembly to the bumper bracket. These are typically positioned at the top and sides of the housing. Remove all three bolts completely and retain them for reinstallation. Support the fog light housing with one hand while removing the final bolt.
- 5Extract fog light assemblyCarefully pull the fog light assembly forward and out of the bumper opening. The assembly may have alignment tabs or clips that require slight rotation or angling to clear the bumper structure. Work slowly to avoid scratching the bumper paint or damaging the mounting points.
- 6Inspect mounting bracket and bumper openingExamine the mounting bracket on the bumper for cracks, corrosion, or damage. Check the bumper opening edges for any damage that may have occurred during the failure of the original fog light. Clean any dirt or debris from the mounting surfaces using a clean cloth.
- 7Install new fog light assemblyPosition the new fog light assembly at the bumper opening. Align the mounting tabs or guide pins with their corresponding slots in the bumper bracket. Insert the assembly at the correct angle and push it into position until it seats fully against the bumper mounting surface.
- 8Secure fog light mounting boltsInstall the three 10mm mounting bolts through the fog light housing into the bumper bracket. Thread all bolts by hand first to ensure proper alignment. Tighten the bolts in a crossing pattern to ensure even seating of the assembly. Snug the bolts firmly but do not overtighten, as excessive force can crack the housing.
- 9Reconnect electrical connectorRoute the electrical connector back to the fog light assembly following the original path. Align the connector with the fog light socket and push firmly until you hear or feel the locking tab engage. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is fully locked in place.
- 10Reinstall bumper access panelPosition the lower bumper access panel back into its mounting location. Install all four T25 Torx screws and tighten them evenly. Ensure the panel is flush with the surrounding bumper surface and that there are no gaps.
- 11Reinstall wheel well linerPull the wheel well liner back into its original position. Install all push-pin fasteners, ensuring each one is fully seated and secure. Verify the liner does not interfere with tire rotation or suspension movement.
- 12Reconnect 12V batteryReturn to the frunk and reconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Tighten the terminal clamp securely. Power on the vehicle and allow all systems to initialize completely, which may take 1-2 minutes.
Reassembly
- Ensure all trim panels and access covers are properly seated and fastened before testing
- Verify no tools or fasteners were left in the wheel well or bumper area
- Return the steering wheel to center position if it was turned for access
Verification
- Activate the fog lights using the vehicle's lighting controls and verify the new fog light illuminates properly
- Check that the fog light beam pattern matches the opposite side and is properly aimed horizontally and vertically
- Inspect the fog light housing alignment in the bumper opening to ensure it is flush and properly seated with even gaps
- Verify no error messages or warning lights are displayed on the instrument cluster related to exterior lighting
- Perform a visual inspection of all reinstalled trim panels and fasteners to ensure everything is secure
- Test drive the vehicle at low speed and verify no rattles or loose components are present in the front bumper area
