Preparation

  1. Park on level ground, place in P, engage the parking brake.
  2. Exit ALL doors with the key fob/phone key away from the vehicle. Wait at least 2 minutes for HV systems to fully de-energize, even on this non-HV job.
  3. Disconnect the low-voltage battery. NOTE: Cybertruck uses a 48V LV architecture (not 12V) — confirm location and connector type per Tesla service documentation before disconnecting.
  4. DO NOT touch, cut, or pierce ANY orange cable — these are high-voltage and lethal.
  5. If at any point you encounter an orange cable, an HV component, or are unsure if a system is de-energized: STOP and consult a Tesla-certified technician.
  6. Activate Jack Mode via the touchscreen before raising to disable air suspension self-leveling (perform before LV disconnect, then disconnect LV).
  7. Loosen rear wheel lug nuts while the vehicle is on the ground.

    Place the catch pan beneath the caliper. Remove the banjo bolt at the caliper inlet and discard the two copper sealing washers. Remove the hose from the vehicle. Cap the caliper port.

    The U-clip must be fully seated — it prevents the fitting from backing out under pressure.

    With the vehicle still raised, cycle the suspension/steering knuckle through its range manually to confirm the hose does not contact tire, suspension, or chassis at any point and is not twisted.

    Top off the master cylinder reservoir with fresh DOT 3 brake fluid. Attach a clear hose to the caliper bleeder screw with the end submerged in fresh fluid in a catch bottle. Open the bleeder, apply pressure (pedal, vacuum, or pressure bleeder), and bleed until clean fluid free of air bubbles emerges. Close the bleeder and torque to specification. Top off the reservoir. If significant fluid was lost, perform a full system bleed per Tesla service procedure.
    Do not allow the master cylinder reservoir to run dry during bleeding — this will introduce air into the ABS/iBooster module and may require a Tesla Toolbox-assisted bleed (out of scope for DIY).

Reassembly

  1. Reinstall the rear wheel; hand-thread lug nuts to prevent cross-threading.
  2. Lower the vehicle until the tire contacts the ground, then torque lug nuts to specification in a star pattern.
  3. Fully lower the vehicle and remove jack stands.
  4. Reconnect the 48V low-voltage battery using insulated tools; secure all covers.
