Preparation

  1. Park on level ground, place in P, engage parking brake.
  2. Exit ALL doors with key fob away from the vehicle. Wait at least 2 minutes for HV systems to fully de-energize, even on this non-HV job.

Reassembly

  1. Apply a light film of anti-seize to the hub-to-knuckle mating surface (not the bolt threads, not the bearing face).
  2. Position the new hub assembly onto the knuckle, aligning over the CV stub splines. Confirm the ABS tone ring (if integrated) is oriented correctly.
  3. Install the hub mounting bolts. Apply threadlocker if specified by Tesla. Tighten in a cross pattern to the Wheel Bearing Hub Bolts spec (100 Nm / 74 lb-ft).
  4. Reinstall the ABS wheel speed sensor and torque the ABS Sensor Bolt to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft). Reseat the harness in its original clips.
  5. Install a new axle nut on the CV stub. With the brake reapplied, torque the Axle Nut to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft). Stake the nut if Tesla's design requires it.
  6. Reinstall the brake rotor.
  7. Reinstall the caliper bracket with threadlocker; torque Caliper Bracket Bolts - Rear to 100 Nm (74 lb-ft).
  8. Reinstall the caliper and torque guide pin bolts to OEM specification — refer to Tesla Service Manual.
  9. Reinstall the wheel and snug the lug nuts.
  10. Lower the vehicle to the ground and torque Wheel Lug Nuts to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) in a star pattern.
  11. Reconnect the 48V low-voltage battery per Tesla procedure.
  12. Exit Jack/Service mode on the touchscreen and allow the air suspension to re-level.

Verification

  • Power the vehicle on with the door closed and key present. Verify no ABS, traction control, stability control, or ride-height warnings remain on the instrument cluster after a 5–10 minute drive cycle.
