Preparation

Procedure

   Remove door panel screws
   Remove the Phillips screw located in the door pull handle recess. Remove the screw behind the interior door handle trim piece (may require prying the trim piece loose first). On front doors, remove any additional screws in the lower corner of the door panel.

   Detach door panel clips
   Using a panel removal tool, carefully pry around the perimeter of the door panel starting at the bottom rear corner. Work your way around the panel, releasing each retaining clip. There are typically 8-10 clips holding the panel. Pull gently outward once clips are released, but do not fully remove yet.

   Disconnect electrical connectors
   Reach behind the door panel and disconnect all electrical connectors for power windows, door locks, and mirror controls. Press the locking tab on each connector before pulling straight out. Lift the door panel up and away from the door frame to fully remove it.

   Peel back vapor barrier
   Carefully peel back the plastic vapor barrier around the speaker location only. Do not fully remove the barrier. Use caution to avoid tearing the plastic as it needs to reseal properly. The speaker will be visible mounted to the inner door structure.

   Locate the speaker electrical connector and press the locking tab to disconnect it from the speaker terminals. Note the connector orientation for reinstallation.

   Remove speaker mounting bolts
   Using a 10mm socket, remove the three mounting bolts securing the speaker to the door frame. Support the speaker as you remove the final bolt to prevent it from falling into the door cavity. Remove the speaker from the door.

   Position the new speaker in the door mounting location, ensuring the mounting holes align with the door frame. Thread all three mounting bolts by hand first to ensure proper alignment. Tighten the mounting bolts in a star pattern to 8.0 Nm (6 lb-ft) if using module mounting spec, or snug by hand plus 1/4 turn if torque wrench is unavailable.

   Connect speaker harness
   Reconnect the electrical connector to the new speaker, ensuring it clicks into place fully. Verify the connection is secure by gently tugging on the connector.

   Reseal vapor barrier
   Press the vapor barrier back into place firmly around the edges to ensure a proper seal. This prevents moisture from entering the door panel area and affecting the new speaker.

    Reinstall door panel
    Reconnect all electrical connectors through the door panel openings before positioning the panel. Lift the panel and hook the top edge over the window sill, then press firmly around all edges to engage the retaining clips. Reinstall all screws and any trim pieces removed earlier. Reconnect the battery negative terminal.

Reassembly

1. Ensure all door panel clips are fully seated by pressing firmly around the entire perimeter
2. Verify all screws are reinstalled in their original locations
3. Check that the door handle and window switches operate freely without binding

Verification

• Reconnect battery and start the vehicle
• Test the new speaker by adjusting the audio system balance/fader to that specific speaker
• Verify clear audio output without distortion, rattling, or buzzing
• Test all door functions including window operation, lock switches, and mirror controls
• Inspect door panel fit and ensure no gaps or loose areas remain
