This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the sunroof switch assembly on a 2018-2024 Toyota Camry with 2.5L I4 engine.

Parts
- Sunroof switch assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Turn ignition off and remove key fob from vehicle
- Open driver's door window to maintain access in case of electrical issues
- Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 3 minutes for airbag system to discharge
Procedure
- 1Remove overhead console front trimUsing a trim panel removal tool, carefully pry down the front edge of the overhead console trim panel starting from the passenger side. Work around the perimeter to release all clips. The panel is held by 6-8 plastic clips and tilts downward from the front.
- 2Disconnect map light connectorLocate the map light electrical connector behind the front trim panel. Press the tab on the connector and pull straight down to disconnect. Allow the trim panel to hang freely.
- 3Access sunroof switchWith the front trim panel hanging down, locate the sunroof switch assembly in the center of the overhead console. The switch is held by two small Phillips screws on either side of the switch housing.
- 4Remove sunroof switch mounting screwsRemove the two Phillips screws securing the sunroof switch assembly to the overhead console. These screws are approximately 15mm long. Keep screws in a safe location for reinstallation.
- 5Disconnect sunroof switch connectorGently pull the sunroof switch assembly downward to access the electrical connector on the back. Press the locking tab and pull the connector straight out to disconnect. Remove the old switch assembly from the vehicle.
- 6Install new sunroof switchConnect the electrical connector to the new sunroof switch assembly by aligning and pushing firmly until it clicks into place. Verify the connector is fully seated by gently tugging on it.
- 7Secure new switch assemblyPosition the sunroof switch assembly into the overhead console opening. Install the two Phillips screws finger-tight first, then tighten evenly to secure the switch. Do not overtighten as the housing is plastic.
- 8Reconnect map light and reinstall trimReconnect the map light electrical connector by aligning and pressing upward until it clicks. Position the overhead console trim panel and press firmly around all edges to engage all clips. Ensure panel is flush and secure.
- 9Reconnect batteryReconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten the terminal bolt to specification. Ensure connection is secure but do not overtighten to avoid damaging the terminal or cable.Torque specBattery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)
Reassembly
- Verify all trim panels are fully seated with no gaps
- Check that map lights function properly before testing sunroof
- Reset clock and radio presets as needed
Verification
- Turn ignition to ON position without starting engine
- Test sunroof tilt function by pressing rear of switch rocker
- Test sunroof slide open function by pressing center of switch
- Test sunroof close and auto-close function
- Verify sunroof stops at limit positions without binding
- Confirm overhead console trim is secure with no rattles
