Flashlight or work light

Parts

  • Sunroof switch assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Turn ignition off and remove key fob from vehicle
  3. Open driver's door window to maintain access in case of electrical issues
  4. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 3 minutes for airbag system to discharge

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove overhead console front trim
Using a trim panel removal tool, carefully pry down the front edge of the overhead console trim panel starting from the passenger side. Work around the perimeter to release all clips. The panel is held by 6-8 plastic clips and tilts downward from the front.
  2. 2
    Disconnect map light connector
Locate the map light electrical connector behind the front trim panel. Press the tab on the connector and pull straight down to disconnect. Allow the trim panel to hang freely.
  3. 3
    Access sunroof switch
With the front trim panel hanging down, locate the sunroof switch assembly in the center of the overhead console. The switch is held by two small Phillips screws on either side of the switch housing.
  4. 4
    Remove sunroof switch mounting screws
Remove the two Phillips screws securing the sunroof switch assembly to the overhead console. These screws are approximately 15mm long. Keep screws in a safe location for reinstallation.
  5. 5
    Disconnect sunroof switch connector
Gently pull the sunroof switch assembly downward to access the electrical connector on the back. Press the locking tab and pull the connector straight out to disconnect. Remove the old switch assembly from the vehicle.
  6. 6
    Install new sunroof switch
Connect the electrical connector to the new sunroof switch assembly by aligning and pushing firmly until it clicks into place. Verify the connector is fully seated by gently tugging on it.
  7. 7
    Secure new switch assembly
Position the sunroof switch assembly into the overhead console opening. Install the two Phillips screws finger-tight first, then tighten evenly to secure the switch. Do not overtighten as the housing is plastic.
  8. 8
Reconnect map light and reinstall trim
Reconnect the map light electrical connector by aligning and pressing upward until it clicks. Position the overhead console trim panel and press firmly around all edges to engage all clips. Ensure panel is flush and secure.
  9. 9
    Reconnect battery
Reconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten the terminal bolt to specification. Ensure connection is secure but do not overtighten to avoid damaging the terminal or cable.
