Side Mirror Assembly

This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the exterior side mirror assembly on a 2014-2019 Toyota Corolla, including proper disconnection of electrical connectors and torque specifications for reinstallation.

• Side mirror assembly (left or right as needed) × 1 — Use OEM specification for color match
• Trim clips (if damaged during removal) × 2 — Toyota 90467-07201 or equivalent

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Ensure ignition is off and key is removed
3. Roll down the window on the side being serviced for easier access to interior trim
4. Verify replacement mirror matches the features of the original (power, heated, turn signal, blind spot monitor, etc.)

Procedure

   Remove interior door trim panel at mirror location
   Open the door fully. Locate the triangular trim piece at the front upper corner of the door panel where it meets the mirror base. Using a trim removal tool, carefully pry the trim panel away starting from the bottom edge. Work around the perimeter to release the clips without breaking them. The panel covers the mirror mounting bolts and electrical connector.

   Disconnect mirror electrical connector
   Locate the electrical connector behind the trim panel. Press the locking tab on the connector and pull apart to disconnect. If the mirror has multiple connectors (for heated, power folding, or blind spot features), disconnect all of them. Note the routing of the wire harness for reinstallation.

   Remove mirror mounting bolts
   Locate the three 10mm mounting bolts securing the mirror assembly to the door frame. These are accessed from inside the door through the trim opening. Support the mirror from the outside with one hand while removing the bolts to prevent it from falling. Remove all three bolts completely.

   Remove mirror assembly from door
   With all mounting bolts removed and electrical connectors disconnected, carefully pull the mirror assembly away from the door. Thread the wiring harness through the door opening as you remove the mirror. Inspect the mounting surface on the door for any damage or corrosion.

   Prepare new mirror assembly
   Unpack the new mirror assembly and verify it matches the original in all features and mounting configuration. If the mirror came with a protective film or covering, leave it on until installation is complete to prevent scratches. Route the electrical connector(s) through your hand to prepare for threading through the door.

   Install new mirror assembly
   Thread the electrical connector(s) through the door opening from outside to inside. Align the mirror base with the three mounting holes on the door frame. Hold the mirror in position from the outside while working from inside to start the mounting bolts by hand. Do not fully tighten yet.

   Torque mirror mounting bolts
   Using a torque wrench, tighten the three mirror mounting bolts in a star pattern (top, bottom, middle) to ensure even pressure distribution. Torque each bolt to 26.0 Nm (19.0 lb-ft). Verify the mirror sits flush against the door with no gaps.

   Reconnect electrical connector(s)
   Connect each electrical connector, ensuring they click firmly into place. Tug gently on each connection to verify it is secure. Route the wiring harness so it follows the original path without pinching or stretching.

   Reinstall interior trim panel
   Position the triangular trim panel over the mirror mounting area. Align all clips with their respective holes in the door panel. Press firmly around the perimeter until all clips snap into place. Ensure the panel sits flush with no gaps.

Reassembly

1. Remove any protective film from the new mirror glass
2. Clean the mirror glass with automotive glass cleaner if needed
3. Verify all trim panels are properly seated and clips are engaged

Verification

• Turn ignition to ON position and verify mirror adjustment motors operate in all directions using door controls
• If equipped, verify heated mirror function activates with rear defrost
• If equipped, verify turn signal indicators illuminate in the mirror housing
• If equipped with power folding, verify fold and unfold functions operate correctly
• Visually inspect mirror alignment and adjust as needed using interior controls
• Check for any rattles or loose components by gently shaking the mirror housing
• Verify the mirror provides proper rearward visibility while seated in the driver position
