Parts

  • HVAC control panel assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
  • Trim panel clips (if broken) × 1 — 90467-10188 or equivalent

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and set parking brake
  2. Turn ignition off and remove key from vehicle
  3. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 3 minutes for airbag system to discharge
  4. Set steering wheel to straight-ahead position for easier access
  5. Gather all tools and replacement parts before beginning

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove lower dashboard trim panel
Using plastic trim tools, carefully pry out the lower dashboard trim panel below the HVAC controls. Start at the bottom edge and work upward. There are approximately 6-8 clips securing this panel. Pull gently to release each clip without breaking them.
  2. 2
Remove center console side trim panels
Remove the small trim panels on both left and right sides of the center console near the HVAC controls. These snap into place and can be carefully pried out using trim tools. Work from the rear edge forward to avoid breaking clips.
  3. 3
    Remove center stack trim bezel
Carefully pry out the decorative trim bezel surrounding the infotainment screen and HVAC controls. Start at the bottom corners and work your way around the perimeter. This bezel is held by multiple clips around its edge. Apply even pressure and work slowly to prevent cracking the plastic.
  4. 4
    Remove mounting screws
Locate and remove the Phillips head screws securing the HVAC control panel bracket to the dashboard structure. There are typically 4 screws. Keep these screws organized as they may be different lengths.

  5. 5
    Pull control panel forward
Gently pull the HVAC control panel assembly forward from the dashboard. You will need approximately 3-4 inches of clearance to access the connectors on the back. Do not pull too hard as wiring harnesses are still connected.
  6. 6
    Disconnect electrical connectors
Disconnect all electrical connectors from the back of the HVAC control panel. There are typically 2-3 connectors: one large main connector and one or two smaller connectors for backlighting or additional functions. Press the release tabs while pulling straight back on each connector. Note the orientation and routing of each connector.
  7. 7
    Remove old control panel
With all connectors disconnected, remove the old HVAC control panel assembly completely from the vehicle. Inspect the mounting bracket and connectors for any damage or corrosion.
  8. 8
    Prepare new control panel
Inspect the new HVAC control panel for any shipping damage. If reusing the mounting bracket, transfer it from the old unit to the new one. Clean any dust or debris from the mounting area in the dashboard.
  9. 9
    Connect electrical harnesses
Connect all electrical connectors to the new HVAC control panel. Ensure each connector clicks firmly into place and is fully seated. Match each connector to the correct port using your reference photos. Gently tug on each connector to verify it is locked.
  10. 10
    Test control panel function
Before reinstalling trim panels, reconnect the negative battery terminal temporarily. Turn the ignition to ON (not running) and test all HVAC functions: fan speed, temperature control, mode selection, defrost, and A/C button. Verify all displays and backlights are functioning. If everything works correctly, disconnect the battery again before continuing.
  11. 11
    Secure control panel
Push the control panel back into the dashboard opening, ensuring all wiring is properly routed and not pinched. Install the mounting screws and tighten to specification. Verify the panel sits flush with the surrounding dashboard.
    Torque spec
    Cover Screws11 Nm (8 lb-ft)
  12. 12
    Reinstall trim panels
Reinstall all trim panels in reverse order of removal: center stack bezel first, then side console trim panels, then lower dashboard panel. Ensure all clips are properly aligned before pressing firmly to seat them. Listen for audible clicks as each clip engages.

Reassembly

  1. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten securely
  2. Reset the clock and radio presets
  3. Verify all dashboard trim panels are secure with no rattles or loose sections
  4. Inspect all panel gaps for uniform fitment

Verification

  • Start the engine and test all HVAC functions: fan speeds (all settings), temperature adjustment (hot and cold), mode selection (vent, floor, defrost, bi-level), and A/C compressor engagement
  • Verify climate control display shows temperature and settings correctly
  • Test automatic climate control functions if equipped
  • Check that all backlighting illuminates properly when headlights are on
  • Confirm no warning lights appear on the instrument cluster related to climate control
  • Listen for proper blower motor operation at all speed settings
