What this code means

The ECM detected a communication failure with the immobilizer system. The anti-theft system cannot verify the key, preventing engine start authorization. Volvo uses a transponder-based immobilizer integrated with the CEM (Central Electronic Module).

Symptoms

• Engine cranks but will not start
• Immobilizer warning light on
