What P0727 Means
The transmission controller sees no engine speed signal at all. Without RPM data the transmission cannot set shift points correctly.
Symptoms
- No or delayed shifts
- Torque converter won't lock
- Check engine light on
Common Causes
- Open in engine speed circuit
- Faulty engine speed sensor
- Disconnected connector
- Faulty PCM/TCM
Diagnostic Steps
- Scan codes and freeze frame
- Check for RPM signal at TCM
- Test circuit continuity between PCM and TCM
- Repair open or replace sensor
