What P0744 Means
The PCM detects an intermittent fault in the torque converter clutch control circuit. This causes the converter clutch to engage and disengage erratically or fail to lock up.
Symptoms
- Shuddering during lockup
- Poor fuel economy
- Engine RPM flares at cruise
Common Causes
- Faulty TCC solenoid
- Damaged wiring or loose connector
- Low or dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty transmission control module
