B8/B9 S4, S5, and sport-package A6/A7 models use lightweight rear diffs with undersized bearings. Hard launches, track days, and fluid neglect cause bearings to wear out between 60,000-100,000 miles. If ignored, the diff explodes and takes the center diff with it.
