⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the parking brake is set.
- Turn the ignition to ON (or press the start button twice without brake pedal) to power the shift system.
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly.
- Press the 'N' (Neutral) button on the shifter panel.
- If the shift interlock is preventing the shift and you have electrical power, locate the shift-lock override slot on the lower left side of the shifter button panel, typically covered by a small rectangular cap.
- Pry off the override cap carefully with a flat-blade screwdriver or trim tool.
- Insert the screwdriver or a key into the override slot and push down while pressing the 'N' button and holding the brake pedal.
- Verify the gear indicator shows 'N' before releasing the parking brake.

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the electronic push-button shifter will NOT function at all. You cannot shift to neutral manually. The vehicle must be jump-started or have the 12V battery recharged sufficiently to power the shifter electronics. Once minimal power is restored, follow the steps above. For flatbed transport, the vehicle must be winched or dollied with all wheels off the ground.
