🚨 2018 Acura RLX: Emergency Neutral
The 2018 RLX Sport Hybrid uses an electronic push-button gear selector panel located on the center console.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and parking brake is engaged
- Locate the small shift lock release cover on the center console, directly below and to the right of the push-button gear selector panel
- Use a small flathead screwdriver or trim tool to carefully pry off the shift lock release cover
- Insert the ignition key (or a similar flat tool) into the shift lock override slot
- While pressing down on the override, press the 'N' (Neutral) button on the gear selector panel
- If the 12V battery is completely dead, the electronic shifter will not respond even with the override—see no-power notes below

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the electronic push-button shifter is completely inoperative. You must jump-start the 12V battery (located in the trunk on passenger side) to get any electrical function. Once powered, use the shift lock override procedure above. The hybrid system does not need to be 'ready'—12V power alone allows neutral selection.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
Sport Hybrid model: Before towing, press and hold the power button for 3+ seconds without brake pedal to enter accessory mode (with 12V power), then shift to neutral. Flatbed towing is strongly recommended. If dolly-towing front wheels up for short distances, ensure transmission is in neutral and do not exceed 35 mph for more than 50 miles. Never tow with rear wheels raised—this will damage the hybrid drivetrain.
