🚨 2021 Alpine A110: Emergency Neutral

The 2021 Alpine A110 uses a traditional console-mounted automatic shifter lever with electronic shift-lock and a mechanical override release.

Expert-verified by Chris Hackleman & Jeff Moore — master technicians, 20+ years each.
⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and wheels are chocked
  2. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON position if 12V power is available
  3. Firmly depress and hold the brake pedal
  4. Locate the small rectangular shift-lock override cap on the left side of the shifter base near the driver's side
  5. Use a small flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool to pry off the override cap
  6. Insert the screwdriver into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pulling the shifter out of Park
  7. Move the shifter to Neutral
  8. If the vehicle needs to be steered, turn the ignition to ACC or ON (not START) to unlock the steering column

With zero electrical power
With completely dead 12V battery, the shift-lock override must be used. The override is purely mechanical and does not require electrical power. You may need to manually unlock the steering column by turning the key to ACC position, though this may be stiff with no power assist. Consider jump-starting the 12V battery if possible to enable steering unlock and easier override access to lighting.
