🚨 2024 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera: Emergency Neutral
The 2024 DBS Superleggera uses a traditional console-mounted automatic transmission lever with electronic shift-by-wire and a shift lock button on the lever itself.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and set the parking brake if functional
- Turn the ignition to the ON position (or press the start button twice without pressing the brake pedal) to provide power to the shifter electronics
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Press the shift lock release button on the front face of the shifter lever while pulling the lever toward you to move from Park to Neutral
- If the 12V battery is completely dead and ignition cannot be activated, locate the shift lock override access—typically a small cover or slot near the base of the shifter console on the driver's side
- Remove the cover with a small flat tool, insert a key or small screwdriver into the override slot, and press down while moving the shifter to Neutral
Shift-lock override location
Small cover near the base of the shifter console, driver's side—requires removal to access mechanical override slot
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the electronic shifter will not function normally. You must use the mechanical shift lock override slot (accessed by removing a small trim cover near the shifter base) to manually release the shift lock mechanism. Insert a key or screwdriver and press down while moving the shifter. If this fails, the vehicle must be transported on a flatbed with all wheels off the ground.
