🚨 2022 Aston Martin DBX: Emergency Neutral

The 2022 DBX uses a conventional center console lever-type automatic shifter with electronic shift lock.

Expert-verified by Chris Hackleman & Jeff Moore — master technicians, 20+ years each.
⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and the vehicle is on level ground or properly chocked
  2. Locate the shift lock override slot on the center console, positioned to the right side of the shifter base near the trim piece
  3. Use a small flathead screwdriver or the metal key blade to remove the small plastic cover cap over the override slot
  4. Insert the key blade or screwdriver fully into the override slot
  5. While holding the override tool pressed down, press the brake pedal (if 12V power available) and move the shifter to Neutral
  6. If no electrical power is available, continue holding the override tool down while manually moving the shifter to Neutral without pressing the brake
  7. Once in Neutral, remove the tool and replace the cover cap

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the shift lock override slot still functions mechanically. Insert the tool into the override slot and hold it down while moving the shifter to Neutral. You will NOT need to press the brake pedal when using the mechanical override with no power.
