🚨 2026 Audi A6: Emergency Neutral
The 2026 A6 uses a console-mounted electronic shifter with integrated P button and shift lock.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Apply the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels
- Turn the ignition to ON position (press start button without brake pedal, or use emergency key access if battery dead)
- Locate the shift lock override - a small cap or slot typically on the left side of the shifter base near the console
- Use a small flathead screwdriver or key to pry off the override cap
- Insert the screwdriver into the override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, press the brake pedal (if power available) and move the shifter to N
- If no electrical power: with override pressed, the shifter should mechanically release to allow movement to N position
Shift-lock override location
Small cap or access slot on the left side of the shifter base, though exact 2026 configuration is not yet confirmed
With zero electrical power
With completely dead 12V battery, the electronic shifter may not respond. If the override slot does not mechanically release the shifter, you will need to jump-start the 12V battery minimally (even a small portable jumper) to get enough power for the shift-by-wire system to engage neutral. Some 2026 models may require Audi-specific scan tool access.
