The procedure
- Set the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels
- Locate the small rectangular shift-lock override cover on the left side of the shifter base (driver's side of the shift lever)
- Use a small flathead screwdriver or key to pry off the override cover
- Insert the screwdriver or key into the exposed override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, press the brake pedal (if battery has any charge) and move the shifter to Neutral
- If the shifter still won't move, ensure you're pressing the override mechanism fully—it may require significant pressure
- Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be moved or loaded
