🚨 2026 Audi e-tron GT: Emergency Neutral

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and chocked
- Attempt to power the vehicle on using the START button (even with a weak 12V battery, the system may briefly energize)
- If powered: Press the brake pedal, press the P button to release park, then shift to N
- If no power or shifter unresponsive: Locate the shift lock override access—look for a small removable cover/cap on the center console near the shifter base (typically on the right side or front edge)
- Remove the cover using a trim tool or flathead screwdriver
- Insert a key, screwdriver, or similar tool into the override slot and press down while attempting to move the shifter to N
- If the electronic shifter remains locked: You must activate Transport Mode (see tow-mode procedure)

With zero electrical power
With a completely dead 12V battery, the electronic shifter and park brake are locked. Jump-start the 12V battery (located in the front trunk/frunk) to briefly power systems, or activate Transport Mode using the jump-start procedure combined with Transport Mode activation through the infotainment screen. The high-voltage battery does not help if the 12V system is dead.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
FLATBED TOW ONLY. The e-tron GT must be in Transport Mode for towing—this releases the electronic park brake and places the drivetrain in neutral. Never tow with wheels on the ground unless Transport Mode is active, as the electric motors can generate voltage and damage the system. Transport Mode requires some 12V power: jump-start the 12V battery, power on the vehicle, access Vehicle > Service > Transport Mode in the MMI. Transport Mode times out after a period; reactivate if needed.
