🚨 2020 Bentley Bentayga: Emergency Neutral
The 2020 Bentayga uses a center-console mounted electronic shifter lever with a leather-wrapped grip and piano black surround.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake firmly
- Remove the small rectangular plastic cap on the right side of the shifter base (passenger side of the shifter lever)
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or the emergency key blade into the shift-lock override slot beneath the cap
- Press down firmly on the override mechanism while simultaneously pulling the shifter lever toward you and moving it to Neutral
- Keep the override depressed until the shifter is fully in Neutral position
- If the electronic parking brake is engaged and non-functional, the vehicle may still resist movement; if no power is available, the EPB cannot be released electronically
- For flat-towing preparation, consult the owner's manual regarding transfer case requirements if equipped with all-wheel drive

With zero electrical power
With a completely dead battery, the electronic parking brake (EPB) cannot be released. The shift-lock override will allow you to move the shifter to Neutral, but the rear brakes will remain locked by the EPB. The vehicle must be loaded onto a flatbed with the rear wheels elevated or dragged, or the battery must be jumped/charged sufficiently to release the EPB before the vehicle can roll. Access the positive jump-start terminal under the hood. Note that 2020 was the final year for the first-generation Bentayga before the redesign.
