🚨 2011 Bentley Continental GT: Emergency Neutral
The 2011 Continental GT (first generation facelift) uses a traditional center-console automatic shifter with electronic shift interlock tied to the brake pedal and ignition.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and the vehicle is on level ground or properly supported.
- Turn the ignition to the ON position if battery power is available (do not start engine).
- Locate the shift lock override slot - it is a small rectangular opening with a cover cap located on the left side of the shifter base, toward the driver's side.
- Use a small flathead screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry off the cover cap.
- While pressing firmly on the brake pedal (if you have electrical power), insert the screwdriver or key into the override slot and press down.
- While holding the override down, move the shifter from Park to Neutral.
- If successful, remove the tool and replace the cap; the vehicle can now roll freely.

With zero electrical power
With no 12V power, the override mechanism may still function mechanically on this generation. Insert the tool into the override slot and apply firm downward pressure while attempting to move the shifter. If the shifter remains locked, the steering column lock may also be engaged - you may need to rock the steering wheel slightly while attempting the override. Have a jump pack or donor vehicle available to provide auxiliary power if the mechanical override does not release the shifter. Note that 2011 was a transition year to the second generation, so verify your specific model configuration.
