🚨 2017 Bentley Flying Spur: Emergency Neutral
The 2017 Flying Spur uses a traditional console-mounted electronic shifter with a lockable P position and shift interlock system.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on level ground and apply the parking brake firmly
- Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine) if battery power is available
- Locate the shift lock override slot on the left side of the shifter base, covered by a small rectangular cap
- Using a small flathead screwdriver or trim tool, carefully pry off the override cap
- Insert the physical key or a similar tool into the override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, press the brake pedal and move the shifter from Park to Neutral
- If the 12V battery is completely dead, you must connect a jump pack or donor battery to provide power to the shifter solenoid before attempting the override procedure
- Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be rolled or winched onto a flatbed
Shift-lock override location
Left side of the shifter base, accessed by removing a small rectangular cap; the slot accepts a key or similar tool to mechanically release the shift lock
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the electronic shifter solenoid cannot release even with the manual override—you must provide temporary power via jump pack or donor battery connected to the battery terminals under the hood. The override mechanism requires electrical power to function on this generation.
