The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake firmly.
- Attempt to provide 12V power to the vehicle via jump-starting or a jump box if possible, as the G01 shifter is heavily electronic.
- If power is available: turn the ignition to ON/ACC position, press and hold the brake pedal, and move the shifter to Neutral.
- If no power is available: locate the shift lock override—it is a small covered slot on the right side of the shifter base on the center console.
- Remove the small plastic cover cap using a flathead screwdriver or key blade.
- Insert the key blade or small screwdriver into the override slot and press down firmly.
- While holding the override down, attempt to move the shifter to Neutral (it may require significant force).
- If the shifter remains locked despite using the override, you must transport the vehicle on a flatbed—the electronic transmission may not mechanically release without power.
- Once in Neutral (if achieved), the vehicle can be rolled or loaded.

The G01 X3 shifter is shift-by-wire, meaning it relies heavily on electronics. With zero 12V power, the mechanical override may not fully disengage the transmission park lock in all cases. If the override slot does not allow the shifter to move to Neutral after firm pressure, the vehicle must go on a flatbed.
