🚨 2023 Chevrolet Blazer EV: Emergency Neutral
The 2023 Blazer EV uses an electronic console-mounted shift lever that operates the electric drive unit through shift-by-wire commands.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Set the parking brake and chock all wheels
- The EV uses a 12V auxiliary battery - attempt to jump-start this battery or connect a portable jump pack to the 12V system
- 12V jump points are located under the hood: positive terminal under red cap, negative ground point on chassis
- Once 12V power is restored, press the brake pedal and push the power button to ON mode
- Press the shift lever button and move to Neutral
- If the shift interlock is blocked due to brake switch failure, locate the shift-lock override
- Look for a small slot or cap on the console trim near the left side of the shifter base
- Remove the cap and insert a small flathead screwdriver, pressing down while attempting to shift to Neutral
- For tow mode preparation: with power restored and vehicle in Neutral, enable Tow Mode through the vehicle settings in the infotainment screen if available

With zero electrical power
CRITICAL: The Blazer EV uses a 12V auxiliary battery to power vehicle controls. Without 12V power, the electronic shifter is completely inoperative. You MUST restore 12V power via jump-starting. The high-voltage EV battery does not help if the 12V auxiliary battery is dead. If the 12V battery cannot be jumped, the vehicle cannot be shifted.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
FLATBED TOW ONLY: The Blazer EV must be transported on a flatbed truck with all four wheels off the ground. DO NOT tow with any wheels on the ground, even in Neutral, as the electric motors are directly connected to the wheels and towing can generate current that may damage the drive system and battery. Even with Tow Mode enabled (if equipped), GM recommends flatbed transport only. Never tow faster than 35 mph or farther than 50 miles under any circumstances, but flatbed is always the safest method.
