🚨 2025 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray: Emergency Neutral

The 2025 Corvette E-Ray uses an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with an electronic console shifter located in the center tunnel.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and apply the parking brake firmly
  2. If the battery has any charge, turn the ignition to ON/RUN (press start button without brake pedal)
  3. Locate the shift lock override slot – it is a small square cap directly forward of the shifter base on the center console
  4. Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to pry off the override cap
  5. Insert the screwdriver or key into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pressing the shifter button and moving the shifter to Neutral
  6. If the shifter will not release with zero power, the transmission must be placed in tow mode or the vehicle flatbedded

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the electronic shifter may not release even with the override. A jump start or battery connection is strongly recommended. If this fails, the vehicle must be flatbedded – do NOT attempt to tow with drive wheels on the ground.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
WARNING: The E-Ray is a hybrid with electric front axle. If attempting to tow, both axles must be off the ground (flatbed only) to prevent damage to the electric drive system and dual-clutch transmission. Never tow with any wheels on the ground. Ensure the high-voltage system is fully disabled before any recovery operation.
