🚨 1995 Chevrolet Corvette: Emergency Neutral
The 1995 C4 Corvette uses a traditional floor-mounted console shifter with electronic shift lock controlled by the brake pedal.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and wheels are chocked.
- Turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position if battery power is available.
- Locate the shift lock override slot on the left side of the shifter base, near the driver's side of the shifter housing—it may be covered by a small plastic cap that pries off.
- Insert a small flat-head screwdriver, key, or similar tool into the override slot and press down firmly.
- While holding the override down, press the shifter button and move the shifter to Neutral.
- If the ignition cannot be turned on due to dead battery, proceed to the no-power procedure below.

With zero electrical power
With a completely dead battery, the electronic shift lock cannot be overridden electrically. You must provide 12V power to the vehicle: use a jump box or jumper cables connected to another vehicle to energize the electrical system enough to turn the ignition to ACC/ON and allow the shift lock override to function. Alternatively, disconnect the shift lock solenoid connector (requires console disassembly) to mechanically free the shifter.
