🚨 2005 Chrysler 300: Emergency Neutral
The 2005 Chrysler 300 uses a traditional PRNDL console-mounted shifter with electronic shift-lock tied to the brake pedal.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Set the parking brake firmly.
- Turn the ignition to ACC or ON position if battery has any charge (this may allow normal brake-and-shift operation).
- If no power or brake interlock failed: locate the shift-lock override access—look for a small rectangular cap or slot on the left side of the shifter base, near the bottom of the gate.
- Use a small flathead screwdriver or key to pry off the cap (if present).
- Insert the screwdriver into the override slot and press down firmly while pulling the shifter button and moving to Neutral.
- If battery is completely dead and power windows/locks don't work, you may need a jump-start or external 12V source to power the shifter interlock solenoid first, as the override may not fully disengage the gate without some electrical power.
- Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be pushed or winched onto a flatbed.

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the shift-lock override may still be mechanically stiff. Attempt the override procedure, but if the shifter remains locked, apply a jump-pack or charger briefly to energize the interlock solenoid, then use the override. Alternatively, push/dolly the vehicle onto a flatbed with wheels locked.
