🚨 1995 Chrysler Town & Country: Emergency Neutral
The 1995 Town & Country uses a column-mounted shifter with a traditional shift-lock button on the shifter handle.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly set and the vehicle is on level ground or properly chocked
- Turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position (if battery has any charge)
- Press the brake pedal firmly
- Press the shift-lock button on the front of the shifter handle while pulling the shifter toward you to move to Neutral
- If the shift-lock button does not release with no power or failed brake switch, locate the shift-lock override slot on the steering column
Shift-lock override location
On the steering column shroud near the base of the shifter lever, there is a small cover or access slot (typically on the right side of the column); pry off the cover and insert a small screwdriver or key into the override slot, then push down or inward while moving the shifter to Neutral
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the steering lock will engage and you cannot turn the key. You must use the manual shift-lock override slot: remove the small cover near the shifter base on the column, insert a flat tool into the override slot, press firmly while moving the shifter to Neutral. The override mechanically releases the shift-lock solenoid.
