🚨 2025 Dacia Duster: Emergency Neutral
The 2025 Dacia Duster hybrid uses a console-mounted automatic shifter with electronic shift-lock and a manual override release.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on level ground and apply the parking brake firmly
- Turn the ignition to ACC or ON position if possible (if battery has residual charge)
- Locate the shift-lock override slot—typically found as a small rectangular or circular cap near the base of the shifter assembly on the console
- Use a small flat-head screwdriver or similar tool to pry off the override cap
- Insert the screwdriver or tool into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pulling the shifter out of Park
- Move the shifter to Neutral
- If the ignition will not turn on due to dead battery, you may need to manually release the electronic parking brake or have the vehicle placed on a flatbed with the drive wheels off the ground
Shift-lock override location
Small cap-covered slot near the shifter base on the center console; exact position may be to the left or right side of the shifter lever base
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the shift-lock override should still work mechanically. However, the electronic parking brake may remain engaged and require a jump-start or auxiliary 12V power to release. If EPB cannot be released, flatbed towing with front wheels raised is necessary.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
This hybrid model may have a high-voltage system interlock. Do not attempt to tow with rear wheels on the ground for extended distances; consult the owner's manual for hybrid-specific towing restrictions. Flatbed towing is strongly recommended to avoid damage to the hybrid drive system.
