The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is set and wheels are chocked
- For manual transmission: Press the clutch pedal fully and move the shifter to the center Neutral position, then release the clutch
- For automatic transmission: Insert the key and turn to ON or ACC position, press and hold the brake pedal, then move the shifter to Neutral
- If the automatic shifter will not move, locate the shift lock override release on the shifter console
- Look for a small plastic cap or access slot on the left side of the shifter gate near the base
- Remove the cap and insert a small screwdriver or key into the override slot
- Press down on the override release while moving the shifter to Neutral
- Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be moved or loaded

Manual transmission requires no electrical power—just press the clutch and shift to Neutral.
