⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the parking brake is firmly engaged
- Turn the ignition key to the ON position (do not start the engine) to energize the shift interlock system
- Firmly depress the brake pedal
- Locate the shift lock override—on the 575M, look for a small cover cap or slot at the base of the shifter console, typically on the left side near the shifter gate
- Remove the cover cap using a small flathead screwdriver or your fingernail
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or the emergency key into the override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, move the shifter from Park through Reverse to Neutral
- Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be rolled or loaded onto a flatbed

With zero electrical power
With no electrical power, you must first provide 12V power to the vehicle. Connect jumper cables or a jump pack to the battery (located in the engine bay) to supply enough power to turn the ignition to ON. The shift interlock system requires minimal electrical power to release. Without any power, the mechanical override may not function, and the transmission will remain locked in Park.
