🚨 2006 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano: Emergency Neutral

The 599 GTB uses a console-mounted F1 SuperFast sequential shift lever with electrohydraulic actuation and electronic park lock.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and set the parking brake
  2. Attempt to provide auxiliary 12V power to the battery if possible (jump pack or jumper cables) - this greatly improves success
  3. Turn the ignition to ON position if battery power is available
  4. Locate the shift lock override - look for a small rubber cap or cover near the shifter base on the console
  5. Remove the override cover cap
  6. Insert the ignition key or a small flat screwdriver into the override slot
  7. Press down firmly on the override mechanism while simultaneously moving the shift lever to N position
  8. If electrohydraulic pressure is available, the shifter should release to neutral
  9. If complete electrical/hydraulic failure, transmission must be placed in neutral mechanically from underneath by qualified personnel

With zero electrical power
The F1 SuperFast transmission relies on electrohydraulic systems. With zero power, the shift lock override may not function as it typically requires some electrical current to release solenoids. If jumping the battery is impossible and the override fails, the vehicle must be placed on a flatbed and the transmission shifted to neutral by accessing the transmission range selector from underneath - this is a specialist procedure requiring Ferrari-specific knowledge.
